This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to recognise and respond to life-threatening emergencies in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies.
This unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide an emergency response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
Specific licensing/regulatory requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training should be obtained from the relevant national/state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authorities

Whilst there is no formal licensing for this unit it is however recommended to re-qualify every 1 year.

Introduction:

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies.
The course describes the skills, knowledge and techniques required to:
  • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in accordance with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines
  • Recognise and respond to life-threatening emergencies.
  • Provide a first aid response to a casualty in a range of situations.
The course applies to all workers who may be required to provide CPR, perform a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

Target Audience:

This course is best suited to learners wishing to complete the program in a classroom based face-to-face program with a trainer over a full time 2-day period.

This unit is delivered over 2 days with the training sessions involving:
  • Discuss overall training topic.
  • Content delivery – PowerPoints / Handouts / Movie files / videos/ other reference and supporting materials.

  • Discussion time
